How are prospective HBOT patients referred to Sacramento Naturopathic Medical Center for treatment?
To make HBOT as safe and effective as possible (which is the first principle of naturopathic medicine) patients must be examined by one of the three SNMC naturopathic doctors on staff for authorization to begin treatment to assure that patients do not have contraindications to the use of HBOT!

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is extremely safe with minimal risks. Patients will be prescribed HBOT by their doctor.

What should patients do to prepare for treatment?
Patients must wear 100% clean cotton clothing with no metal. Do not wear, under any circumstance, perfume, hair spray, hair oils, cosmetics, fingernail polish/acrylic nails, petroleum or Vaseline products, deodorants, metal products including wire under garments, jewelry, including watches.
What does the Hyperbaric Technician need to know prior to treatment?
Inform our technician:
- If you have a cold, or feel as though you are coming down with a cold
- If you have a fever, chest congestion, nasal congestion
- If there is any change in your medication
- If you are nauseous, or vomiting
- If you have an ear infection
- If you are Diabetic and you didn’t take your insulin
- If you have not eaten the morning of the treatment
- If you are pregnant
- If you are claustrophobic, or anxious
